Citizenship in your town - visit the Community Service section of our Web site to learn about how you can
help the animals that reside at CAHS. CAHS relies on the good citizens of our community to help us care
for the animals.
Communication
2. Prepare and give a three-minute talk to your den on a subject of your choice. Participate in our
Overpopulation lesson plan (under the Programs section of the Web site) to learn what overpopulation,
spaying and neutering mean. Give a talk to your den about the importance of spaying and neutering.
8. Write an article about a den activity for your pack newsletter or Web site, your local newspaper, or
your school newsletter, newspaper, or Web site.
Option 1 - Schedule a tour of CAHS for your den to learn about the purpose of humane societies and
the animals they serve.
Craftsman
2. With adult supervision and using hand tools, construct two different wooden objects you and
your Webelos den leader agree on.
Animal cutouts — make cutouts of dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and or gerbils to donate
to CAHS. The cutouts can be sold during special events to raise funds for the animals in our care.
Feral cat colony — Feral cats are not domesticated and therefore remain as outdoor cats even
during cold, winter months. They need shelter away from snow and rain. Work with an adult to build
a feral cat shelter.
Handyman
2. With adult supervision, wash a car. Organize a charity car wash to support CAHS. Determine
the date(s) of your car wash and look for a place where you can hold your car wash; at your house or
perhaps a local retail store may allow you use of its space and water.
Encourage friends and family to volunteer their time. You can put a set price on the washes or you
can ask for donations.
Make a flier to tell people what you are doing; be sure to include the date, location and information
about the CAHS. Make copies of the flier and distribute to your friends, ask permission to hang them
in various places or business, or post them in places near the location where you would have your car wash.
At the end of the car wash bring your proceeds to CAHS. Please include your name and address so we can
be sure to thank you for your wonderful effort.
